The Two Fatalities Identified in the Ivy League School Shooting as Law Enforcement Continue Hunt for Perpetrator.

Two students who died in the weekend's violent attack at Brown University were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant carried on following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, according to the organization. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared sympathies on social media, saying in part: “There are no words. Thinking of her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

His name was confirmed by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said late Sunday that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a search at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you need to change course and go in another, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”
