It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this performance followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because I feel like I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was removed the team required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing competing nations at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as skipper.
