PSG Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
