Just as the recent storm tore through the north-west the previous evening, City overwhelmed United aside at the their home ground. It was a convincing 3-0 triumph for the City coach's side due to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that clearly signaled their leadership claims as they reinforced their standing at the league summit.

Successive Losses for United

This scoreline signalled back-to-back WSL losses for Marc Skinner’s side for the first time since last May, placing them a significant margin off the top team with their championship aspirations severely dented.
