This winter transfer window is typically a time of feverish speculation and potential big-money transfers. A number of notable footballers are being linked with moves away from their current teams. Here is a look at a selection of the major names that are poised to be changing clubs this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has kept the player in contention, reports suggest a major transfer is imminent. The 25-year-old has a contract with a substantial release clause active for a two-week window in early January. Recent developments indicate Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. Other suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to other targets, potentially opening the door for clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a last-minute move.

Marc Guéhi

The English centre-back has excel for Palace this season a previous move to Liverpool collapsing. As his deal due to run out in the summer, January is the London club's final opportunity to obtain a fee for their skipper. A host of top clubs, such as Manchester City and several continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly be interested. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spain that he would be willing to take a pay cut for a switch to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced Germany goalkeeper is now as third-choice at Barça following new coach Flick. Having lost his place and had an operation, a winter exit seems highly probable. Villa were initially linked as a potential destination, but that option currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be showing interest in the keeper.

I. Toney

The proven English striker has kept scoring frequently in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League might enhance his dwindling hopes of being in the national squad. K. Smit

This much-admired Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. After impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ Alkmaar first team. The 19-year-old is heavily tipped to make a major move this month. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but could face strong competition from the Spanish champions for a deal valued at approximately £22 million.
